Episode 4: Give ‘Em What They Want

Today I want to talk about the customer journey.

I think this is a huge topic that doesn’t get talked about enough. By customer journey, I am NOT talking about cold DMs. If you think approaching your customer in a DM is any different than walking up to someone and asking them to marry you in a bar, you better listen to this episode!

With branding, you are building a relationship. You are showing up consistently and authentically as yourself. You are building a relationship with your audience. So you must get to know who your audience is, who your ideal client is, every step of the way.

We’re going to go into the first stages of your customer’s journey of knowing who the heck you are.

Imagine someone who you worked with in the past or your ideal customer/client. What are they struggling with? What pain are they experiencing and researching the topic in which you are an expert? They are typically moving away from pain or moving towards pleasure. So you have to figure out what is going on with them at the moment.

I want you to think about what very specific problem your ideal client is facing, and you are the expert and can help them out with it. What is very obvious to you but not obvious to your customer? You want to provide them value and give them the answer to that very first question.

People can find several different resources and the reason they choose to listen to you in all of the noise is you are addressing what you can call a pain point. And you want to address that first.

A lot of times, I see people jumping ahead to steps 4,5,&6. These steps are obvious to you but not to your customer. And this is what confuses the audience. We have to start with step 1. And get really clear on exactly what that is.

What are they thinking, feeling, the very first question they are asking? You want to provide them value and give them the answer to that very first question.

This will give you content that will resonate with your audience. You can use it as a freebie, IG Live, and more.

You have to start paying attention to your customer journey and the words that they are using. This is key, you guys! Because you know your own jargon, but they’re likely not saying those fancy words.

I want you to start paying attention to what your audience is saying. Then you need to start using those words and build a rapport and build an audience.

Key points discussed:

First stages of your customer’s journey (01:40)

What you are doing that confuses your audience (05:30)

How to really get specific about providing value to your ideal customer (07:20)

Why this is the most important step (08:45)

What will make them follow you and/or engage with you (09:53)
